Management Training Seminars for Soft Skills

Most of the companies today organize management training seminars for their employees from time to time with the aim to develop their managerial and leadership skills and also provide encouragement for success and achievements. These seminars help an employee to equip himself with the capabilities required to excel in the competitive business environment. Through these management training seminars, the individual also learn about interpersonal skills, how to cope-up with work stress and handle fast-changing workplace conditions. In short, thanks to the seminars, the individual can enhance core skills and stay ahead of evolving, new trends, and succeed at the workplace.

Increasingly, companies are contacting experts, consultants and organizations who have the resources and the expertise to conduct management training seminars. This helps a company to concentrate on core business and not worry about issues like employees’ soft skills development. These seminars include topics such as time management; organizations skills; marketing skills; sales and customer service skills; and more.

Some of the management training seminars are open for all and are not limited to a particular company’s employees, and from executives, directors, managers, business owners, to entrepreneurs anyone can attend these seminars to update and enhance skills and knowledge. If one plans to attend one of them, it’s better to find about: on which date; on what time; where it’s going to be held; and if there is a workshop. Also, it’s important to note the speakers who will discuss the topics. It’s a good idea to do little preparation before attending one as it helps in asking the right questions during the question and answer session and get a better understanding of the topic. There may be an enrolment fees to attend one of these seminars, and it’s better to check in advance and fulfil all the criteria before landing at one to attend.

How Eating Disorders Affect Latinos

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 20, 2014

The Bella Vita, one of the nation’s leading treatment centers for eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, will co-host a Tweetchat from 10:00 – 11:00 am Pacific on Tuesday, December 2nd with Salud Today. The chat discussion, “How Eating Disorders Affect Latinos” will use the hashtag #SaludTues on all tweets for the conversation on Twitter. Participants can follow the chat on any web chat application such as http://bit.ly/1uV8OaE.

The partnership between Salud Today and The Bella Vita developed through The Bella Vita’s #EDIncludesMe initiative, a vision of CEO and Founder Patricia Pitts, Ph.D. “The ED Includes Me initiative provides people from all walks of life vital information about eating disorders, the treatment of eating disorders, how to support one’s self or a loved one with an eating disorder and educate the public on the global inclusivity of eating disorders.” Dr. Pitts explained. The Bella Vita recently released an ED Includes Me Diversity segment on Latinos/as. The segment caught the attention of and would be beneficial information to the followers of Salud Today via Twitter.

The twitter handle @SaludToday and the #SaludTues Tweetchats are directed by the Institute for Health Promotion Research (IHPR) team at The University of Texas, San Antonio Health Science Center. The IHPR’s goal is to investigate the causes of and solutions to the unequal impact of cancer, chronic disease and obesity among Latinos in San Antonio, South Texas and the nation. The IHPR, which is directed by international health promotion expert Dr. Amelie G. Ramirez, achieves its mission through research and interventions, training the next generation of researchers and health professionals, and communicating with researchers and the public on Latino health issues.

The Bella Vita’s Social Media Manager, Kate Wotanowicz, shared that, “we were thrilled to be considered to co-host this Tweetchat with Salud Today. The opportunity will allow the ED Includes Me initiative to inform and embrace how to support the Latino/a community from an individual, family and health care profession standpoint.”

During the chat, Dr. Pitts will also share her 30 years of clinical insight, patient success stories and the necessity of eating disorder awareness and outreach to the Latino/a community.

A 2007 study from the International Journal of Eating Disorders highlighted that disordered eating behaviors among minority groups often goes unnoticed until there is a severe medical condition. The partnership of The Bella Vita, Dr. Patricia Pitts and Salud Today’s Tweetchat will aid in bridging that gap and bringing awareness to the impact and preventive measures of eating disorders and co-occuring health illness in the Latino/a community.

About The Bella Vita. At The Bella Vita we recognize the many signs and symptoms an individual struggling with an eating disorder may show the world, even if everyone else may miss them. We have seen this with our thousands of patients – females, males, adolescents, adults and all ethnicities who have struggled with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and disordered eating. We believe that each individual is whole. Working side by side, we guide our patients to put the pieces back together.

The Bella Vita is a CARF accredited program with transitional living and several residential and outpatient treatment centers in Los Angeles, Woodland Hills, La Canada Flintridge and Thousand Oaks. For more information, visit http://bit.ly/1uV8Pvj or call the 24/7 intake line at 818.585.1775 for program and admissions questions or to schedule an assessment with a specialized eating disorder therapist.

About leadership

“In honor of fools, rebels, troublemakers … in honor of those who see things differently, not bound by rules. I can summon, you may not agree with them, glorify or defame you, but the only thing you can not ignore is that they are the ones who change things.

They push the human race and evolution, while others considered them crazy, we see them as true geniuses, because they are crazy enough to think they can change the world are those who really change. “(Steve Jobs)

Recent death of Steve Jobs made us once again to talk about the greatness of a true leader is needed about how a society leadership models. Message to Steve Jobs for young graduates from Stanford is one that we will remain constantly in mind. Jobs told young people just beginning their adult life. What could be better, simpler, more encouraging for some young people are starting out? Lesson for the world of Steve Jobs is the courage to dare to follow your dreams and intuition.

I listened obsessively to Steve Jobs’s speech last days and I could not help but cry with emotion and excitement in front of an example of humanity and wisdom. We all remember the courage, will and freedom with which he lived his life Steve Jobs. We all need role models like him to show us that there are reasons not to follow your heart, you should not let fear of embarrassment or fear of failure dominate you and that life can take another course if you identify and follow your mission. Looking around me and remembering my years of school and youth, I can not help but say that society in which I made rather urged me to resignation and predictability. Therefore, I strongly believe in the need for Romania to begin to educate children and young people in another spirit than that of humiliation and the inability.

, He urged the graduates Steve Jobs at Stanford. Students who can speak as Romans? For such a message be given in schools and our universities, we need to grow leaders like Jobs. We need people who inspire us, give us courage to be, above all, creative dreams. And we need something! We need new leaders of Romania to have a man like Jobs generosity to share with other dreams and aspirations.

For four years I founded a company they work for very young people. Most people I work with are up to 30 years or less over. What cultural trait is well done, desire for change, involvement, ability to act intelligently and critically and a desire to build here and now. They say that Steve Jobs is not important to be the richest man in the cemetery, but the matter go to sleep at night at peace with yourself. Are among those who have great confidence in new generation capacity to change things. Field in which we work gives the best signal change in the politics, economics, media, society and you can see the articulation of a new class of leaders in the business area that will give tone to other models in the future and the political arena. I would have liked to see the same trend and among the younger generation of politicians. With few exceptions, what we see in politics lately is just a reproduction unfortunate “models elders” young politicians being deprived of ferment change. Therefore, political leaders need to cultivate our faith and courage in us as a nation is more pressing than ever, lest we be like a high speed train with a locomotive designed for other times.

Back to Steve Jobs, do not forget that time is limited and we have no reason to let us stifle the voice of others opinions.

I dedicate this article to a leader whom I loved with all your being and that has ended too early mission on Earth. He believed in young people hungry and curious will make a difference in our society.

The Promotion Optimization Institute Announces Enrollment for the Certified Collaborative Marketer Credential

West Nyack, New York (PRWEB) November 19, 2014

The Promotion Optimization Institute (POI), the leading resource for trade marketing and merchandising executives, announced today that enrollment for the Certified Collaborative Marketer (CCM) ™ credential is now underway. The next class begins December 3, 2014 at Saint Joseph’s University with instruction available both online and at several university locations. The CCM credential is the Retail/CPG industry’s only advanced professional certification in trading partner collaboration created by the POI in partnership with Dr. John L. Stanton at Saint Joseph’s University. Win Weber, chairman and CEO of Winston Weber Associates will lead the graduate session during the CCM orientation.

The POI designed the CCM credential specifically for retail and consumer goods, sales, marketing, and merchandising professionals and their organizations who are interested in manufacturer and retailer inter-organizational collaborative goals through predictive planning, executing, analysis, pricing and promotion, leadership, and decision support. The POI Education Advisory Board has overall responsibility for evaluating and validating the CCM curriculum. The Board consists of between twelve and fifteen members representing academia, retailers, manufacturers, and solutions experts.

“Achieving my CCM credential through the POI was a great experience all the way around. Through this program I was able to learn firsthand from collaborative planning experts the techniques, tools and approach for analyzing and building effective marketing, promotions, sales and merchandising strategies that I can begin to implement immediately to enhance both my company as well myself professionally,” said Alexander Jablokov, customer service analyst – retail perimeter at Campbell Soup Company.

“What was also great about the CCM program was that we were able to learn not only from experts but were also able to collaborate closely with our peers, which has created a strong network for all of us. I look forward to applying what I learned in my new role and moving up in the organization using what I learned in the CCM program.”

“One of the accomplishments we are most proud of is how quickly our graduates are able to implement what they have learned throughout the CCM program. At our recent “Collaborative Promotion Optimization and Continuous Improvement Summit,” Jim Hertel, POI Advisory Board Member, and the managing partner of Willard Bishop, led a class on “CCM – Collaborative Cultures and Strategies,” said Michael Kantor, CEO of the POI.

During the 16-week self-directed CCM program, expert faculty are available to teach candidates the key collaborative skills that drive mutual success in serving a shared shopper/consumer. Over 90 percent of the program is online. The program begins by exploring how organizations develop and implement a collaborative culture and strategy. Next, core functional areas of business are explored –from forecasting, trade marketing, to merchandising, pricing, supply chain and predictive analytics- providing candidates a solid understanding of each function and how it contributes to internal alignment, and trading partner collaboration success. CCM graduates and candidates include sales, marketing and merchandising executives from Walgreens, Norseland, Inc., Pinnacle Foods, 7-Eleven, ESM Ferolie, Hormel, Delhaize America, GMCR, Campbell Soup, and Continental Mills, and others.

Benefits of a Certified Collaborative Marketer (CCM)

– CCMs will have the knowledge of pricing, promotion, fused with important related disciplines. Additionally, CCMs will be able to demonstrate the ability to integrate this information into joint business planning

– CCM is the only designation directly related to marketing and merchandising collaboration, serving a complex and ever-changing retail environment

– The CCM program is designed to develop collaborative business competency and mastery of the executive level skills needed to add value, drive trading partner performance, and build quality pricing and promotion practices within and between organizations

– A CCM graduate gains expertise in implementing promotion optimization strategies and becomes well versed in understanding the mutual key performance indicators that drive brand, category and store profitable growth

– By becoming a CCM, executives demonstrate his or her commitment to collaborative practices and personal professional development

Two Feet of New Snow Launches Winter Season in Gunnison-Crested Butte, Colorado

Gunnison-Crested Butte, Colorado (PRWEB) November 19, 2014

With more than two feet of fluffy white snow falling over recent days, Gunnison-Crested Butte Valley is off to a momentous start to winter. Crested Butte Nordic Center is open with some of the best early season conditions on record, and Crested Butte Mountain Resort is gearing up to open next week in time for Thanksgiving. Here are several prime reasons to start enjoying winter now and great early season deals starting at just $ 59 per night/per person for lodging and skiing.

Free Skiing

No need to worry about having enough money to rent equipment, buy lunch or enjoy an après ski cocktail when the lift ticket for skiing and boarding is absolutely free, no strings attached, for Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s opening day on Nov. 26. Live music is planned at the slopeside Butte 66 throughout the day, providing a festive start to season.

All season long, Crested Butte Nordic will offer complimentary skiing and ski gear for youth ages 17 and under, making cross-country skiing and snowshoeing attractive and affordable ways for families to enjoy mountain trails.

Power Up Ski Skills

Pig out on turkey and all the fixings, work off the calories and learn something new at Crested Butte Nordic’s annual Thanksgiving Training Camp on Nov. 27 – 29. All levels of cross-country skiers can attend with groups divided by experience and into classic and skate skiing disciplines. The camp kicks off with a refresher round robin clinic for classic skiers on Thanksgiving morning and continues with half- and full-day clinics on Nov. 28 and 29. Clinic instructors include Olympians Rebecca Dussault and Ingrid Butts.

Those who love the outdoors will appreciate “Summits of My Life – A Fine Line,” presented by Crested Butte Film Festival on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. to benefit Crested Butte Nordic. On Nov. 29, the Thanksgiving Training Camp Party and Silent Auction at the Red Room features delicious fare, libations, music and dancing at 6 p.m.

Ski mountaineering continues to gain traction but how does one go about learning this unique sport? Crested Butte’s gOCB Professional Skimo Team is presenting a solution by offering the first-ever gO Skimo Camp on Dec. 13 – 14 at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Local world-class, professional athletes and coaches Bryan Wickenhauser, Brian Smith, Jari Kirkland, Jon Brown, Sari Anderson and Stevie Kremer will work with participants on uphill, downhill and transition skills on alpine touring (AT) gear, and two forums will focus on nutrition and performance, ski-specific core workout lessons, product development, beginner and advanced racing techniques and injury prevention tips. A skimo gear swap, yoga session, winter run, skimo race and social gatherings also are part of the weekend.

Get Your Race Face On

Of the three International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) sanctioned races in the United States this season, Crested Butte is thrilled to host two events. The first is the fifth annual Irwin Guides/Griggs Orthopedics ISMF Race on Dec. 6 in nearby Irwin, a former mining town near Crested Butte. Competitors in the race division should plan on 5,000 feet of elevation gain/loss over a 10-mile, three-loop race course while the recreation division features 3,500 feet of elevation gain/loss over 6.5 miles, which includes the first two loops of the race division course. An awards party is planned for 5 p.m. at Mountaineer Square Ballroom in Mt. Crested Butte, held in conjunction with the Crested Butte Avalanche Center Awareness Party.

The Mountain Store Citizens Race Series is competitive and fun for all ages and abilities with classic and skate ski races held on Saturday mornings at scenic locations within Crested Butte Nordic’s groomed trail network. Beginning with 5 and 10 kilometer lengths in early December, race distances increase up to 20 km leading up to the 29th annual Alley Loop Nordic Marathon on Feb. 7. Citizens Race dates are Dec. 13 and 20 and Jan. 10, 17 and 24.

The Gunnison-Crested Butte valley has the unique distinction of being one of the birthplaces of mountain biking and continues to push the envelope with a fat bike race series this winter that kicks off on Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. in Crested Butte’s Magic Meadows area near Peanut Lake. The series continues with a Jan. 3 race in Gunnison at Hartman Rocks Recreation Area and Feb. 6 in Crested Butte in conjunction with Alley Loop.

One-of-a-Kind Shops & Holiday Markets

Skip the malls and find extraordinary gifts in one-of-a-kind, locally owned toy stores, boutiques, coffee shops, distillers, galleries and ski shops in the historic downtowns of Gunnison and Crested Butte and the ski area base in Mt. Mount Sinai Scientists Gain New Insight into Hepatitis C Antiviral Resistance

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 18, 2014

A team of scientists specializing in genomics and microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has revealed important new information about the hepatitis C virus (HCV), including its response to targeted therapeutics and new insight about its role in cancer development. The work, published in Nature Communications, focused on microRNA genes — a recently discovered type of regulatory gene —and used whole-genome sequencing of the virus to challenge conventional wisdom about how the virus responds to emerging therapies. The findings may contribute to more effective development of hepatitis C drugs in the future and to more personalized treatment for patients.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, HCV is widespread, affecting some 3 percent of the world’s population and more than 3 million people in the United States alone. Recent CDC reports indicate that hepatitis C infections are on the rise among young people and are increasingly the cause of death among baby boomers. The vast majority of people who get HCV will suffer chronic infection, which can lead to liver inflammation, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Highly effective new treatments have been launched recently, but their high prices have caused public outcry and limited widespread use. There is no commercially available vaccine for hepatitis C.

In this new study, Mount Sinai researchers examined HCV response to an experimental treatment that targets and blocks the supply of a microRNA that the virus needs for infection of human cells. Contrary to expectations, they found that depleting the supply of this microRNA could trigger drug resistance with the emergence of HCV strains able to infect cells with negligible levels of the microRNA. This information could be used for more effective dosing of drugs targeting this gene, as well as for pre-treatment analysis to determine which patients may respond best to this class of drugs.

“This effort, which was made possible by innovative microRNA analysis, offers significant progress toward precision medicine in treating HCV patients,” said Matthew Evans, PhD, Assistant Professor of microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a co-author of the study. “There is a critical need for more weapons in our arsenal to fight HCV — particularly for affordable, effective treatment as we try to stay a step ahead of this virus and prevent it from developing the kind of drug resistance we’re seeing in the bacterial realm.”

In another key finding, the scientists uncovered knowledge that may help answer the longstanding question of how HCV leads to cancer. The study demonstrated that HCV hijacks the microRNA gene, diminishing its normal activity in liver cells. Since this microRNA is known to be a potent tumor repressor, it is possible that HCV robs cells of their natural defenses against uncontrolled growth. Such an outcome could contribute to cancers that arise from chronic HCV infection.

“Our study offers broader implications for this class of microRNA genes and their interaction with targets, which may be useful for a number of diseases in addition to hepatitis C,” said Brian Brown, PhD, Associate Professor of Genetics and Genomic Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a co-author of the study. “We are also intrigued by this new information that may shed light on the link between HCV and the onset of cancer and look forward to future efforts to explore this theory.”

Sarantos Drops First CD in 2014 And His New Music Rocks

(PRWEB) November 18, 2014

Sarantos is a solo rock artist who has been releasing a new song every month all year long in 2014. Well the moment of truth has arrived and the CD has dropped.

Sarantos’ first CD called “Not Where I Wanna Be” is finally released to the public on November 18th 2014. Sarantos has developed a knack for surprising his fans all year long. From giving away all his music for nothing, to writing a fiction/fantasy book to the latest surprise!

You can of course purchase the digital CD on iTunes, Amazon, Google and almost anywhere but fans might want to purchase an exclusive physical copy directly from his website. It’s by far the biggest giveaway ever in the history of physical CD sales. Sarantos has not seen any artist ever give away all of this to anyone who purchased their CD – songs, videos, instrumentals, lyrics sheets, chance to have dinner, be in a music video etc.

Sarantos even came up with three reasons why fans should purchase this CD:

1. Sarantos will sign it and add a personal message.

2. Fans will get a personal email from Sarantos with a link where they can download, legally own and be able share with Sarantos permission all of the following:

All music videos in HD quality

Instrumental versions of all these songs

Signed lyric sheets for all these songs

A personal shout-out on one of Sarantos social media pages for all the world to see!

A video thank you to all the fans that purchase the CD

Five signed digital photos of Sarantos (don’t use them for target practice please)

One entry for the opportunity to win a special one of a kind limited edition Sarantos T-shirt with fan’s name on it.

One entry for the opportunity to win a 30 minute private Skype session with Sarantos where fans can basically ask anything they want

One entry for the opportunity to win a signed microphone Sarantos actually used to record one of these songs (name of the song will be signed onto the microphone)

One entry for the opportunity to win a Free dinner with Sarantos at Wildfire in Glenview, IL in the USA. Bring any 2 people you want. Sarantos treat on dinner but travel expenses excluded.

One entry for the opportunity to win and join Sarantos on a music video shoot for one day so get ready to be an actor/actress. Fans get to be in a real live music video! The video will be for one of the future songs. And yes, Sarantos will treat to lunch and dinner but travel expenses excluded.

3. Because fans know they really want to! Besides it’s only $ 14.99 (includes USPS shipping anywhere in the continental United States).”

** Must purchase before Jan 15th 2015. Winners will be notified by Jan 30th 2015.

Sarantos was nominated for 2 awards for the 2014 International Music & Entertainment Awards for the categories of “Rock Song of the Year” and “Pop Album of the Year.”

“This is a very cool deal I think,” says Sarantos. “I am proud of my 1st CD and I wanted to give the fans a unique opportunity and experience. They know I’m giving away all of my music for free to them so I sat down and thought hard about what would I want as a fan to buy an exclusive copy of a CD from one of my favorite bands. My 3 reasons to buy my CD is the end result. I hope they enjoy it. Everything is for my fans and it’s all about them. I’m not going anywhere and I won’t abandon them. I’m going to continue releasing a new song and music video every month until the day I die! I’m just getting started…”

Thirty-three percent of any music-related sales profits are going straight to the chosen charity for each song.

Chicago’s very own music artist has been gaining followers ever since his first song debut back in January 2014. Internationally, the buzz has continued to spread and Sarantos music has received well over 1M radio airplays. His fan list continues to grow quickly and consistently.

The social media realm has continued to embrace this rising star. In addition to the attention of over 1.4M Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Instagram followers. Sarantos continues to be invited to many radio interviews throughout the world. All this commotion started when his 1st song, “Not Where I Wanna Be,” was released worldwide on January 2nd, 2014.

Sarantos strives to inspire people with his songs and lyrics. Music is always on his mind and Sarantos has written over 2,000 songs. Sarantos’ music has received rave reviews so far from industry insiders, and he relishes this chance to pursue his lifelong dream.

Sarantos unique sound has been best described by industry insiders as “an emotionally powerful vocal style masterfully united with music that is a fusion of classic 80s rock blended with modern soft rock and pop music.”

There will be plenty of continued buzz throughout the year. Every single year until the day he dies, Sarantos will release a new song every month meaning 11 songs each year with a new CD every November. A new song will be released the 1st Tuesday of every month, then a new music video on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, a new Funny video of the month on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, and a new Whiteboard video on the 4th Tuesday of every month. A new CD will then be released every November. Additionally, Sarantos revealed that he is also going to start releasing a new Chapter from his fiction/fantasy book each month with the final book also coming out at the end of the year.

Sarantos has always been inclined to help people in need and is proud to launch this CD as a way to donate a significant portion of proceeds to charity, hopefully inspiring other artists to do the same. The 11 charities chosen for each album song include American Lung Association, Make-a-wish Foundation, American Heart Association, St Jude’s, Hellenic Academy, Aserf, American Red Cross, Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Chicago Medical School, Thanioton Society, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The website, Melogia (which in Greek means “with words”), was established by Sarantos, an aspiring singer and song writer.

AWWA president to Congress: Pollution reduction key to cyanotoxins prevention

DENVER (PRWEB) November 19, 2014

In testimony today before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy, American Water Works Association President John Donahue stressed that the solution to keeping drinking water safe from cyanotoxins begins with reducing nutrient pollution.

The subcommittee hearing was in response to an event in August 2014, when the City of Toledo, Ohio, found the cyanotoxin microcystin in finished water and issued a “do not drink” advisory for more than 400,000 people. The contamination was the result of an algal bloom in Lake Erie.

“The fairest and best strategy for reducing the scope and severity of this problem in the future is bringing nonpoint sources of nutrient pollution under more effective management,” said Donahue, who is also CEO of North Park Public Water District in Machesney Park, Ill. “At present, though, these sources lie largely outside the jurisdiction of the Clean Water Act.”

Speaking on behalf of 50,000 water professionals represented by AWWA, Donahue pointed out that cyanotoxin contamination is always associated with excessive amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus in water. According the U.S. Geological Survey, nonpoint sources – predominantly runoff and air deposition – account for 90 percent of the nitrogen and 75 percent of the phosphorus in U.S. waterways.

Water treatment technology exists to allow drinking water utilities to remove toxins produced by algal blooms, Donahue said, but he also noted that the technology is very expensive to acquire and maintain. He highlighted work AWWA has undertaken to address the issue, including development of materials on protecting against algal blooms, training on protocols for responding to drinking water emergencies, and a creation of a soon-to-be-published cyanotoxins guide for utility managers.

However, he added that “utility managers can’t solve this problem on their own. We need federal help. Federal agencies, including EPA and USDA, should use existing authorities to give much higher priority to nutrient reduction projects that protect downstream drinking water supplies. For example, the Clean Water State Revolving Loan fund and Farm Bill conservation programs could be targeted and used more effectively to reduce nutrient pollution and protect drinking water sources.”

Other witnesses at the hearing were Peter Grevatt, director of the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water at EPA, and Craig Butler, director of Ohio EPA, and Lynn Thorp, national campaigns director for Clean Water Action.

Chaired by U.S. Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.), the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy resides under the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Established in 1881, the American Water Works Association is the largest nonprofit, scientific and educational association dedicated to managing and treating water, the world’s most important resource. With approximately 50,000 members, AWWA provides solutions to improve public health, protect the environment, strengthen the economy and enhance our quality of life.

Power Morcellator Controversy Grows, As Senators Urge FDA to Act Quickly To Address Morcellator Cancer Risks, Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports

New York, New York (PRWEB) November 19, 2014

The controversy surrounding power morcellators (http://bit.ly/1vRh08v) shows no signs of abating, as Bernstein Liebhard LLP notes that two U.S. Senators are once again asking the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to act quickly to mitigate the cancer risks associated with the devices. In a letter dated November 18th, Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) write that they remain concerned “that women around the country are not receiving clear information about the potential risks associated with morcellating undetected malignancies during laparoscopic procedures.” *

Among other things, the letter notes that both Senators have met with constituents who have been impacted by the spread of gynecological cancers via uterine morcellation, and implores the FDA to consider the voices of these women and their families as it prepares to address this issue. Finally, the Senators ask the agency to provide them with information regarding the methods it is using to gather data on the injuries and deaths that may be associated with power morcellators.

“It has been more than six months since the FDA issued an alert discouraging doctors from using power morcellators in uterine surgeries. We commend Sens. Gillibrand and Warren for their continued efforts in this matter, and hope that the FDA takes their letter into account as it continues its review of uterine morcellation,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is now evaluating morcellator lawsuits on behalf of women who may have experienced the spread of undiagnosed uterine sarcoma and other cancers due to uterine morcellation.

Uterine Morcellation and Cancer

Power morcellators are used in laparoscopic hysterectomies and fibroid removals to shred tissue so that it can be easily removed through a small incision in the abdomen. In April, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warned that use of the devices in gynecological procedures could spread undetected uterine cancer cells throughout a woman’s body. According to the agency, roughly 1 in 350 women with fibroids has uterine sarcoma cells within that tissue. Current screening methods do not always detect these malignancies prior to surgery, and dissemination of cancer cells outside of a woman’s uterus via a power morcellator can result in the upstaging of the disease, greatly reducing a patient’s chances of long-term survival.

This is not the first time Sens. Gillibrand and Warren have confronted the FDA on the issue of uterine morcellation. In August, Sen. Gillibrand, along with Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY), wrote to the FDA asking that it ask morcellator manufacturers to pull the devices from the market.** As the November 18th letter notes, Sen. Warren submitted questions on the matter to the FDA in March.

Court records indicate that a growing number of morcellator cancer lawsuits have been filed in U.S. courts on behalf of women who allegedly experienced the spread of uterine cancers due to the devices. Just last month, one such case was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California on behalf of a woman who allegedly developed seven cancerous tumors in her abdomen after undergoing uterine morcellation to remove fibroids. (Nielsen, et ux. v. Gyrus Acmi LLC, No. 2:14-2375)

Women who allegedly experienced the spread of uterine sarcomas and other cancers due to power morcellation may be entitled to take legal action against the manufacturer of the device used in their surgery. To learn more about the risks potentially associated with power morcellators, please visit Bernstein Liebhard LLP’s website. To obtain a free legal review, please call 800-511-5092.

Building Confidence in Teens

Teenage is undoubtedly an age of dilemma. But when this dilemma starts taking them into the pessimistic worldview, teens often become mentally fragile. In order to build confidence and achieve success in life, Building Confidence In Teens need to believe in themselves and their potentials.

There is a direct relationship between confidence and mastery. Unfortunately, most of the teenagers give up to the challenges which they think are difficult to tackle. Gradually, these teens tend to become introvert, lose enthusiasm and self-esteem.

Lacking self-confidence, how can the teenagers excel in life? How can they make the life large? This article provides some tips for the parents, helping them to build confidence in their kids.

Provide The Teens With A Plethora Of Opportunities

Make sure that the teens participate in different extra-curricular activities so that they can get new challenges every day. Try to push them into those activities that are not too easy. This will also keep the teens interested in the tasks they have to perform.

You Can Make Them Think Positively

Teens always learn most of the things including behavioral attitudes from their parents. We are always the role models for the kids. Behave positively in front of them. Let the teens observe you and learn how to tackle difficult situations with self-assurance.

Properly Praise The Teens On Their Achievements

Don’t just praise your kids, but do it properly when they have achieved something. It doesn’t mean praising them on simple tasks. Teens can see through the smoke. Praising them on trivial things will make them feel you don’t believe that they can achieve more. Therefore, while praising the kids, always remember that your words should count. Rain the accolades upon the kids when they have achieved something that required true efforts.

Motivate Your Teens Even In Their Hard Times

“Nice try!” “Not bad!” are the words which never go in vain. Sometimes in life, in spite of our best efforts, we are not able to succeed. Parents should understand this and should motivate the kids even when they haven’t succeeded. Regardless of the outcome, it is very important to become the support pillar of the teenagers, and appreciate them for their efforts.

Nowadays, there are many companies providing various Performance Enhancing Trainings and Workshops for the teens. Parents are recommended to take their kids in these Confidence Building Workshops as they can help their kid to produce peak performance. Aside from efforts from the parents’ side, such sessions provided by performance improvement coaches can go a long way in making one’s child confident and smart.
