Be A Better Parent After Reading This

If you’re a first time parent, or have a child on the way, you might not be sure how best to raise your child. This article will help with some basic parenting advice to help you get through the tough spots and help your child become an adult you can be proud of.

What experts say is true– reading books to your child is very important. Children learn just about everything by reading, from colors and numbers, to shapes and letters. Experts believe that 30 minutes of book reading each night could have your child on the way to reading before they even reach kindergarten!

Have a daily routine or schedule as much as possible. Most children prefer routine, as it means they know what will be coming next. Surprises can be fun, but not every day. Having a basic schedule for activities, mealtimes, and naps, and a more detailed schedule for bedtime can help your child remain calm and focused throughout their day.

Learn how to properly bring your baby to your breast in order to avoid improper latching techniques. A bad latch will cause pain to for mom and a less than satisfactory feeding for baby so it is very important to latch your technique. Make sure to always bring the baby up to your breast and check that he has a large amount of the areola in his mouth for the best experience.

Consider teaching a young toddler or older infant signing. Even if you don’t use special “baby sign”, toddlers will have an easier time communicating with their hands than with their words. This is an especially useful technique if you have a toddler with a language delay, as it provides them with a channel for communication.

Child rearing can be challenging, but if you keep in mind the advice you’ve read, you will be giving your child a great foundation. Stick in there through the rough spots and remember that children act out sometimes, but if you continue to use proper parenting techniques, they will grow up to be successful, happy adults.
