Although parenting is arguable the most important job in the world, it is, ironically enough, one of the few jobs that comes with little to no required training. (Not to mention no pay!) Anyone, after all, can be a parent. Faced with such an important job, where can parents go to for guidance?
A critical parenting tip is to never allow a toddler to be near water, unattended. Bathtubs, pools, lakes and any other areas of significant water, can pose extreme danger to small children. By ensuring that young kids are never alone in such settings, the risk of accidental drowning can be drastically lowered.
If you’re away on a trip without your child, make sure you call them at least once a day to tell them you miss them. This lets the child know that you love them and haven’t forgotten about them. You don’t want your child to feel like they’re not as important as your friends or your job are.
Make time to play with your children every single day. Playtime helps get you and your children moving, which benefits your health. Playing also encourages creativity, social interaction, imagination, and good self-esteem. Active play is better than passive, so take your kids to the park or even just the yard and let loose your inner child.
If you want to facilitate good study habits, make sure your child has a full belly. A child needs energy to study effectively. It will prevent them from becoming over tired and keep their brain working. A small snack, like an apple or some peanut butter crackers, can do wonders during study time.
Being a parent can be simultaneously the most rewarding and stressful job imaginable.
