Becoming a parent can be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do, but it won’t be free of frustrations, anxieties and fears. Children don’t come with instruction manuals, and every parent worries about making irrevocable mistakes. Fortunately, there’s a lot of great advice out there for nearly every parenting situation you may face.
Remember that your child looks to you for guidance. It’s important for your kids to feel that what you say is true and that they can trust you.
If your child becomes upset while traveling in the car, try giving them a magnetic toy to play with. Use a cookie sheet or cake pan and put a variety of magnetic toys on it. This should keep your child entertained even if you have to stop at a light or slow down for traffic.
If your baby is irritable and not relaxing as quickly as you want him to, head to the bathroom with him. Make yourself comfortable on the toilet and rock your baby as you have the exhaust fan and the faucet running. These sounds mimic the sounds of the noise of the heartbeat in the uterus.
Be sure to discipline with love. If you take the time to correct your child’s actions they are sure to develop into the person that you desire them to be. Set rules and stick to them and be sure to discipline your child immediately when they break the rules that you have set for them.
One nice thing about being a parent is that you’re never alone. There’s always someone out there who has already dealt with the same issues you are struggling with. Don’t be afraid to listen to other parents and take their advice. Remember the tips you’ve learned and you’ll be able to better focus on the joys of watching your children grow.
